Is Landscaping Necessary?

What value do you place on landscaping?  Do you think it really helps a sale?

I’m being asked this question more frequently and that tells me people are thinking seriously about how their property might be perceived by the market.  Landscaping doesn’t have to mean tens of thousands of dollars spent on boulders shipped in from the mountains or exotic plants trucked down from Far North Queensland.  It really means thoughtful layout and management with the idea that your home and gardens will be in sync; the space will be suitable to your needs and the overall vision will be aesthetically pleasing, all of which adds to your quality of life while living there.  Plus, it should mean your home spends less time on the market and for a vendor, that’s very important.

According to research by landscape economists landscaping can add a whopping 28% to the value of a property! It doesn’t have to be expensive. If you’re not keen to employ a professional, then my tip is to have a plan, go green, keep everything trimmed and tidy. Plant high at the back and graduate downwards to the front. And don’t fake it, lay real turf.
