Franchise v Independent Real Estate Agency

“Are there benefits to choosing an independent real estate agency over a franchise to go with when selling?”

The benefits of listing with an independent agent are many and varied! Firstly, independent agencies aren’t constrained by the cookie cutter model that franchisees must work within. We build relationships and design marketing campaigns that suits every client’s individual needs and budget.

Staff from administration to sales are more likely to live locally, providing more in-depth local knowledge and I firmly believe there is greater accountability to clients – there’s no ‘head office’ to hide behind. R&R Property has seven offices, but we aren’t a franchise, with all offices under sole ownership. Covering the Hunter to Mid-North Coast Region vendors receive extensive reach with exposure across all offices. We treat every client individually and unlike franchised agencies where fees are set, we welcome negotiation on fees and charges. As testament to the benefit of being an independent, 2022’s RateMyAgent Awards saw R&R named in the Top 100 Agencies Nationwide – yes, of all agencies. Nationwide! We are just so thrilled. We also won Agency of the Year for Stroud, Clarence Town, Karuah and North Arm Cove. As these awards are voted by customers, I think they speak volumes as to the benefits of independent agencies!
